Am I a Candidate for Brow Lift Surgery?
Those who inquire about a forehead lift feel that their heavy brow line has made them appear tired, sad, or even angry. If this sounds like you, a brow lift may provide the improvement you desire.
Qualified candidates for brow lift procedures include those who:
- Do not have a history of significant eye problems
- Do not smoke and remain in good health
- Do not have a history of excessive scarring or keloid formation
Brow Lift Scars
One of the most common concerns patients have is the appearance of brow lift scars.
Modern techniques, such as an endoscopic brow lift, use very small incisions that are carefully hidden within the hairline whenever possible. As healing progresses, these scars typically become less noticeable.
Dr. Grant Moore will explain incision placement and scar care during your consultation.
Brow Lift vs. Blepharoplasty
Patients often wonder whether they need a brow lift or blepharoplasty.
While both procedures improve the appearance of the upper face, they address different concerns.
A brow lift raises the position of the eyebrows and smooths the forehead.
Upper blepharoplasty removes excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids.
Sometimes what appears to be excess eyelid skin is actually caused by a descended brow. In many cases, combining both procedures creates the most balanced, long-lasting result.
Dr. Moore will determine which procedure is appropriate during your consultation.
Brow Lift vs. Botox Brow Lift
Many patients ask about a Botox brow lift before considering surgery.
A Botox brow lift uses carefully placed neuromodulator injections to relax specific forehead muscles, allowing the eyebrows to lift slightly. While effective for mild brow drooping, results typically last three to four months and cannot correct significant excess skin or tissue laxity.
A surgical brow lift provides more comprehensive, longer-lasting correction by repositioning the brow. If you have moderate to severe brow drooping, excess forehead skin, or eyelid hooding, surgery often provides more noticeable and durable results.
During your consultation, we’ll help determine whether a non-surgical brow lift or brow lift surgery is the better option for your goals.
