Clinical Expertise

Dr. Davidson is a highly experienced cataract and lens replacement surgeon known for his personalized approach to advanced vision correction. He specializes in cataract surgery, robotic laser lens replacement, and advanced technology lens implants, including the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL), being among the most experienced in the world, implanting over 1000 adjustable lenses. His goal is to help patients achieve their best possible vision while reducing dependence on glasses and contact lenses.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Davidson has performed more than 50,000 successful procedures, including more than 10,000 laser lens replacements and over 10,000 advanced technology lens implants, making him among the most accomplished surgeons in the country in the use of modern cataract surgery technologies.

Dr. Davidson practiced in Ventura County, California for nearly 30 years, where he was the first surgeon on the Central Coast to offer laser lens replacement. He was also the first in the region to implant most of the advanced lens technologies. He was the first surgeon in the nation to implant PanOptix, the first FDA-approved trifocal lens implant, using the NGENUITY 3D Heads-Up Visualization System, and the second surgeon in the world to perform cataract surgery using a head-mounted 3D display system.

His greatest honor is the trust his colleagues place in him by performing eye surgery on hundreds of medical doctors, eye surgeons, optometrists, and their loved ones. “My team and I treat our patients like family, recommending only those treatment options that would deliver the best possible outcomes.”

In August 2026, Dr. Davidson relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona, where he now practices at Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center.

Education and Medical Training

At UCLA’s Jules Stein Eye Institute, Dr. Davidson won the Clinical Fellow Research Award. At Indiana University, he completed his Ophthalmology Residency, as well as his MD degree (AOA and top 1%), and his undergraduate BA degrees in Biology and Chemistry (PBK and top 1%).

Professional Contributions and Recognition

Dr. Davidson is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He served as the founding National Director for the AAO Laser Cataract Surgery Course and Lead Instructor for the ASCRS Femtosecond Laser Cataract Course, both courses for training other cataract surgeons. A principal investigator for FDA clinical studies, Dr. Davidson also works with leading eye industry engineers to design and test next-generation lenses and devices.

Personal Interests

A charitable person at heart, Dr. Davidson strives to bring the gift of sight to all his patients on eye surgery missions to developing nations while having provided surgical training to local ophthalmologists in Albania, Fiji, Mexico, Venezuela, and Vietnam.
