Clinical Expertise

Dr. Harper Gillentine provides comprehensive eye care with specialized training in ocular disease and surgical co-management. During her residency, she gained extensive experience managing complex cases in a high-volume referral center and served as a clinical attending for optometry externs. She also has research and publication experience in color vision testing, visual performance enhancement, and neuro-ophthalmic conditions.

Education and Medical Training

Dr. Gillentine earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Rosenberg School of Optometry at UIW, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She completed a residency in Ocular Disease and Refractive Surgery at the Eye Center of Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Sciences from Rice University and gained early experience through shadowing at the University of Houston’s Neuro-Optometric Clinic and conducting research in neuroplasticity and color vision science.

Accolades

Dr. Gillentine graduated as the Salutatorian from the Rosenberg School of Optometry. She received multiple Academic Excellence Awards recognizing her as a Top 5 student. Actively involved in professional organizations, she served as a Johnson & Johnson Vision Student Ambassador and presented research posters at the American Academy of Optometry and ARVO. Her research on color vision performance with corrective lenses was published in Eye (Nature Journal).

Personal Interests

Outside of her clinical and academic pursuits, Dr. Gillentine enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her pets. A former NCAA Division I athlete, she swam competitively for Rice University and continues to stay active through fitness and hiking. In her free time, she enjoys exploring new trails, staying active, and relaxing with a good book.
