Josh Perkins, OD

Dr. Josh Perkins is a residency-trained medical optometrist. He has been practicing at Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center’s Phoenix location since 2014. His focus in eye care is in ocular health and ocular disease. He diagnoses, treats and manages both rare and common eye diseases, the most prevalent being glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. His other main role is pre and post-operative surgical care throughout the wide spectrum of our ophthalmology specialties, co-managing patients with the company’s renowned retina, glaucoma, cornea, oculoplastics and cataract surgeons. In addition to medical health examinations, he routinely performs cataract evaluations. Josh Perkins, OD is a second generation Perkins at the practice as the son of one of the founding partners, Scott Perkins, MD. He has lived in Phoenix since age six, long enough for most Arizonans to consider him a native. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona where he achieved Dean’s List With Distinction.

Dr. Perkins earned his four year Doctor of Optometry degree from Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Optometry in 2013 as a member of the inaugural class. After receiving his doctorate, he continued his optometric education through the ocular disease and primary eye care residency position in Reno, Nevada at the Veterans Affairs Sierra Nevada Health Care System, an affiliate program of the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. He is a member of the Arizona Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Perkins spends as much of his free time as possible with his lovely wife and two children. His hobbies include hiking, backpacking, skiing, underwater basket weaving and chess. With a career in eye care, he is humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve our community through something as precious and essential to life as vision.
