Dr. Hutchings was raised in Huntsville, Alabama, and earned her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University, graduating summa cum laude. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from the UAB School of Optometry, where she graduated valedictorian and received the prestigious BSK Silver Medal for academic excellence.

Following optometry school, Dr. Hutchings completed a highly competitive residency in ocular disease at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL — ranked the #1 eye hospital in the U.S. for 21 consecutive years.
