Lorne Schlecht, MD is a board certified eye physician and surgeon who has a history of academic and professional excellence. Dr. Schlecht graduated at the top of his class at the University of South Dakota and at Mayo Medical School. He was Chief Resident Associate at Mayo and oversaw the training of many of the brightest minds in ophthalmology today.
Dr. Schlecht specializes in small incision – no needle cataract and glaucoma surgery and has performed over 25,000 successful eye and eyelid procedures. He was among the first to offer laser treatments for bladeless eyelid surgery that results in rapid healing. He has been honored with three national awards in research to prevent blindness including specialty training in disorders of the eyelids and refractive surgery at Moorfield’s Royal Eye Hospital in London.
Dr. Schlecht remains ever approachable, bringing a calm confidence to the practice of ophthalmology. When not working, he enjoys travel, hiking and camping with his wife and daughter. He is an accomplished pilot and has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge to positively impact those around him.
