Visian Implantable Contact Lens™
Beyond LASIK, the most exciting advancement for vision correction has arrived. Implantable lenses, long used for treatment of cataracts, are now available for patients seeking vision correction.
With the Visian Implantable Contact Lens, you can achieve high-definition vision without many of the risks associated with LASIK. Rather than changing the shape of the cornea as in LASIK eye surgery, implantable lenses are placed inside the eye to enhance the focusing abilities of the eye’s natural lens, providing excellent quality of vision for a wide range of vision correction. Should your prescription change, the lens is replaceable to maintain your vision for years to come.
The Visian ICL™, or implantable contact lens, can correct moderate to severe myopia, or nearsightedness, as well as moderate astigmatism. This procedure is ideal for patients who may not have been candidates for LASIK or may have higher levels of nearsightedness.
As a world-renowned research and educational facility, our team of ICL expert Surgeons have been performing ICL procedures for over ten years and proudly implant more ICLs than any other clinic in the United States.
WHAT IS THE VISIAN ICL™?
The Visian ICL™ is a special contact lens that is implanted inside the eye and works with the eye’s natural lens to produce sharp, clear vision. Crafted from Collamer®, an advanced biocompatible material, the Visian ICL™ Implantable Contact Lens is completely safe and long-lasting. Our ICL experts find that the Visian ICL™ greatly increases the number of patients who are able to reduce or even eliminate their dependence on glasses or traditional contact lenses.
VISIAN ICL™ CANDIDATES
The Visian Implantable Contact Lens is intended for use by patients between the ages of 21 and 45 who are nearsighted and have no previous history of ophthalmic disease such as iritis, glaucoma, or diabetic retinopathy. Among patients who fit into the above demographic, the Visian ICL™ is also an excellent option for those who do not meet the eligibility requirements for LASIK. For example, patients with extremely thin corneas or those predisposed to dry eye syndrome might have less than optimal results from LASIK. However, the Visian ICL™ requires no change to the cornea and does not contribute to such conditions as dry eye, making it an excellent choice for these patients. The only way to determine if you are a candidate for the Implantable Contact Lens is to have a thorough ophthalmic exam by a doctor familiar with the Visian ICL™.
