Jack Sipperley, MD

Retina and Vitreous Surgery

Dr. Sipperley graduated from University of Miami School of Medicine in 1971. He completed his internal medicine internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1972. After serving as General Medical Officer in the USAF from 1972-75, he returned to the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute to complete his residency in Ophthalmology in 1978. He then served as Chief Resident for six months while completing a Medical Retinal Fellowship following with a Vitreoretinal fellowship in 1979. An additional fellowship at Duke University completed his formal training.

Dr. Sipperley returned to active duty with the USAF as the Retinal Consultant for the USAF based at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB in Texas from 1979 to 1983, serving as Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology from 1982-1983. He then accepted a joint position with the Dever’s Eye Institute and Casey Eye Institute in Portland as staff retina surgeon and Director of Research. In 1986, Dr. Sipperley moved to Phoenix where he became the Director of Research and Senior Partner of Retinal Consultants of Arizona until 2010.

Dr. Sipperley joined Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center 2010 as a retina surgeon and continues to see medical and surgical retinal patients and participates in continuing research endeavors. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the ASRS, EVRS, and a board member of the Arizona Ophthalmologic Society and Western Retinal Study Club.
