How Do I Find Eye Doctors Near Me?

Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center has 24 locations across Arizona. Finding the one closest to you is simple: on our website, click on our Locations tab, choose to Use my Current Location, or put in your zip code, city, or state. Once you do this, a map and a list of the eye center locations closest to you are available. You can also choose the View All Locations option to see our listing.

How Do I Learn More About Each Location?

When you search for Locations Near You, you’ll get a list of the nearest locations. This list will include the phone number and address for each location. It will also tell you if that location is a clinic, a surgery center, or both and whether or not it has an on-site optical shop. For example, full-service eye centers like our Tucson 5th Street location include a treatment clinic, surgery center, and an on-site optical department where you can get eye exams, and shop for designer and prescription eyewear. In addition to the optical shop, Tuscon 5th street location is where you can find eye doctors, eyeglasses and contacts, and eye specialists near you.

By clicking Location Details, you’ll go to a page that provides details for each site. On each location detail page, you can access hours of operation, which doctors work from that location and their specialties, the specialty services of the location, patient reviews, a map, and directions to the eye center.

How Do I Schedule an Eye Exam Near Me?

Patients can easily schedule an appointment for their location of choice in one of two ways: by clicking on the Schedule Online button or by calling a location directly.

The Schedule Online button allows you to book an eye appointment through the website from the list of locations or the individual location’s webpage. You can also find that location’s phone number and call during business hours to schedule your appointment or ask questions.

How can I find an eye doctor that accepts my insurance?

Our eye centers can accept a wide range of medical and vision insurance providers, and you can view the list of providers accepted here. Medical insurance is used for emergencies or disease management, while vision insurance typically covers routine screenings and lenses. If you don’t see your insurance provider on this list, please call, as insurance changes throughout the year.

      Finding the Right Eye Doctor

When choosing a location near you, you also want to ensure that you’re visiting a site with a doctor specializing in your particular needs. We can help you find an ophthalmologist, optician, or optometrist near you.

      What Are Your Specialties?

Below are the treatments and specializations that Barnet Dulaney Perkins offers as an organization:

      Cataracts

Cataracts happen when the natural lens within your eye hardens and becomes yellow and cloudy. Cataracts are typically age-related and include symptoms like blurry vision, dull colors, and difficulty seeing at night. The only cure for cataracts is surgery to replace the lens in your eye.

Our experienced surgeons use advanced technologies and techniques to provide cutting-edge cataract care. Learn more about our cataract treatments here.

      Comprehensive Eye Exams

Routine eye exams are the best ways to protect your eyesight, especially because many eye diseases like glaucoma and macular degeneration don’t cause vision symptoms in the early stages. Comprehensive eye exams can detect these things and also help reduce age-related vision loss.

Visit our Comprehensive Eye Exam page to learn more about the benefits of regular eye exams.

      Cornea

The cornea is the transparent covering on the outermost portion of your eye, directly under the lids. It protects the iris, the colored part of the eye, and the pupil, the black dot in the center, and helps to focus light and create a clear image in your vision. Many conditions can affect the cornea and, as a result, impact your sight.

The experienced care team at Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Centers is here to provide you with treatment options for corneal conditions that range from medication to surgery. Visit our cornea page here.

      Cosmetic & Anti-aging

Signs of aging occur around the eyes as skin and tissue lose elasticity and start to sag. To help reverse signs of aging, we offer cosmetic procedures such as:

        • Botox®, Xeomin, and Dysport
        • Brow lift surgery
        • Eyelid surgery

Our highly-skilled and experienced oculoplastic surgeons can give you the rejuvenated look you love. Learn more about the ophthalmic plastic surgery options we offer here.

      Dry Eyes

Dry eye, also called ocular surface disease, is a common disease that often occurs during aging. Aside from dryness, this can lead to irritation, burning, stinging, and itching in the eyes, watery eyes, and sensitivity to light and wind.

There are a few different causes of dry eye. An ophthalmologist near you can help you find the cause of your dry eye problems and the treatment solution.

      Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a condition in which your optic nerve, the nerve leading from your eyes to your brain, is damaged. This damage, caused by elevated pressure inside the eye, often leads to progressive loss of sight. Medicated eye drops or surgery can treat glaucoma.

While glaucoma surgery can be risky, the surgical experts at Barnet Dulaney Perkins eye centers can guide you through the best treatment option. Visit our Glaucoma information page for more details.

      Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK)

LASIK eye surgery is a procedure that uses lasers to reshape your cornea to correct your vision. This 10-15 minute outpatient procedure can reduce or eliminate your need for corrective lenses. We offer our VISION for Life commitment for any adjustments or enhancements you may need to maintain your results.

Our VISION for Life program, backed by our excellent surgeons, contributes to the tremendous results our patients have seen and continue to see. Learn more about your LASIK options, including finance plans, here.

      LASIK Alternatives

We offer other vision correction options if you’re not a good candidate for LASIK, including PRK, EVO Visian Implantable Collamer® Lens (ICL), a corrective implant, and refractive lens exchange surgery (RLE), an implant that replaces your inner lens.

Our highly-trained surgeons can help guide you toward the option for you to ensure you are satisfied with your results. Learn more about the different types of LASIK alternatives here.

      Retinal Damage

The retina is the layer of cells in the back of your eye that processes light signals. Many conditions can affect your retina, such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal detachment.

More patients trust their eyes to our retina surgeons for their retinal surgery needs than any other practice in Arizona. Learn more about retinal treatment here.

      Importance of Eye Exams

Several eye diseases, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, do not show noticeable symptoms in their early stages. An examination by an optometrist is the best option to ensure your eyes are happy and healthy.

Why do I need a comprehensive eye exam?

      A comprehensive eye exam will:

      • Ensure your eyes are healthy
      • Detect any early stages of glaucoma and macular degeneration
      • Stay proactive in reducing age-related vision loss
      • See signs of chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure

Plus, routine eye exams are your best opportunity to protect your eyesight!

      Update your Lenses and Frames

There are currently several options on the market for prescription lenses. Our optical shop offers top-of-the-line options, including:

          • Anti-reflective/glare-free lenses. These lenses have a coating that helps reduce artificial reflection. These are ideal for driving at night, using a computer, and working under fluorescent lighting.
          • Polycarbonate lenses. Lenses made of polycarbonate are lighter and thinner than traditional lenses. They are also resistant to scratching and shattering and have built-in UV protection.
          • Transition lenses. Transition lenses adjust to changes in light to protect your eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. We also offer Transitions XTRActive lenses that darken behind your car’s windshield.
          • Bifocals. Bifocals are lenses that allow you to see at a distance through the top portion of the lens and simultaneously allow you to read through the bottom of the lens. With bifocals, you can avoid alternating between your distance and reading glasses.
          • Trifocals. Trifocal lenses are similar to bifocal lenses but have an area for seeing at a computer distance above the reading distance area.
          • Progressive lenses. Progressive lenses are bifocals or trifocals that smoothly transition between the varying corrective lenses without lines for the different distance corrections.
          • BDP Advanced Progressive. We also offer advanced progressive lenses that are custom-fit to your prescription and frames.

To shop for or to purchase eyewear, look for locations listed with optical shops in the location list. Learn more about the different lenses we offer and our outstanding optical department.

Do I Need an Optometrist, Ophthalmologist, or Optician?

Are you wondering who you should see for your eye exam? Here are the differences between Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, and Opticians.

      Optometrist (OD)

are eye doctors who have undergone, at a minimum, a four-year doctorate program in optometry. They train to:

          • Perform comprehensive eye exams
          • Prescribe corrective lenses
          • Provide pre-and post-operative care for patients who have had eye surgery
          • Diagnose and treat eye problems, infections, and diseases

Some optometrists also provide eye care services like low-vision services and vision therapy.

      Ophthalmologist

Ophthalmologists are medical doctors (MDs) or sometimes osteopathic doctors (ODs) who have had four years of medical school, a year-long internship, and a minimum of three years of hospital residency in diagnosing and treating eye disorders. Their specialty involves:

          • Performing eye exams
          • Prescribing corrective lenses
          • Performing eye surgery
          • Diagnosing and treating eye problems
          • Prescribing medication

      Opticians

Opticians, meanwhile, are not doctors. They fit and sell glasses based on the optometrist or ophthalmologist’s prescription. Some opticians can be certified for contact lens fitting as well.
