Farsighted or Trouble Reading?

If you are over 40 or hyperopic (farsighted), you have probably noticed difficulty reading and now have to use reading glasses or bifocals. This is due to the natural hardening of the lens inside your eye, and is known as presbyopia. Until recently, many people who wished to eliminate their dependence on glasses or contact lenses chose to have laser vision correction. However, LASIK does not stop the onset of presbyopia or aging of the eye.

Using the proven techniques of modern lens-based surgery, the accommodating IOL is a procedure that replaces the natural lens of the eye with a new intraocular lens to correct Distance vision and restore Near vision. As the name implies, an accommodating lens “flexes” or “accommodates” to focus on subjects at various distances, delivering a continuous range of vision, near, far and everything in between.
