Dr. Scott Perkins grew up in Cape Cod, Massachusetts playing the cello and participating on the debate team in high school. He is a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed a clinical fellowship in ophthalmology at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and completed his residency in ophthalmology at Boston University Medical Center in 1989.
In 1992, Dr. Perkins joined the Barnet Eye Center as an ophthalmic surgeon and was invited to remain on staff following the 1993 merger of the Barnet Eye Center and the Dulaney Eye Clinic and Cataract Institute. As a recognized ophthalmologist with Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center (BDPEC) in Arizona, Dr. Perkins has performed more than 50,000 cataract surgeries and more than 10,000 LASIK and laser refractive surgery procedures. His roles include medical director and managing partner of Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center. He is trusted, not only for his surgical talents and unpretentious nature, but also for his compassion and ability to comfort patients.
Dr. Perkins is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In addition, Dr. Perkins serves on the Board of Directors for Arizona Visionaries, a donor driven non-profit organization providing cataract surgery and eyeglass fittings in third world countries. Dr. Perkins enjoys volunteering his surgical skills and eye care vision services to less fortunate people and plans to continue the tradition in other third world countries. He has two sons, one in optometry school at Midwestern University in Glendale and the other attends University of Arizona in Tucson. Scott enjoys the outdoors, staying fit, reading, and helping people see better.
Dr. Perkins is recognized as one of "America's Top Ophthalmologists" for 2008, by the Consumers' Research Council of America.
